Safety Concerns
Equipment should be cleaned after each use and should be used only by one person to prevent risk of infection. Should be cleaned before being used in the vaginal region to prevent UTI’s. Can be dangerous to use someone else’s feces or urine, transmission of diseases would be highly possible. Using an enema excessively could get rid of too much good bacteria in the body and could upset the natural balance in the colon. Irritation could occur as well. Be careful to study up on herbs if you intend to use them in an enema. Make sure of the reaction you could have from using something.
How To
Some positions that people find useful are: on the back with legs raised, kneeling with chest down, and laying on one’s side.
How to administer an enema:
- Connect all equipment for the enema.
- Fill the enema bag with fluid.
- Clamp enema tube.
- Lie down on the floor or in a comfortable position.
- Lubricate anus and applicator with oil of some sort.
- Insert the nozzle into the anus.
- Release clamp and let enema fluid flow into the colon.
- Clamp the tube when the colon feels full or when the enema fluid runs out.
- Remove nozzle from anus.
- Try to retain the enema for 2 to 10 minutes.
- Empty the bowels.
