Fetish is a fixation on an object. Historically fetish was used to describe the belief that an inanimate object, like a statue, had spiritual powers. In modern times it has become the key word in sexual deviance, used often to describe the alternative sex scene. The more accurate modern definition of fetish is a sexual fixation on an object that is not by nature sexual. There are many different paraphilias out there, which is the term used to include all of the various types of fetishes.
