Marquis de Sade, Masochism

[edit] Definition

Sadism is the feeling of sexual excitement that comes from administering pain, suffering or humiliation to another person. Those who enjoy administering pain are known as "sadists". This can become dangerous when the person receiving the pain is an unwilling recipient. When the sadist acts are consensual it is known as sadomasochism. Someone who is a sadist often reflects a desire for sexual or psychological domination over another person. Acts of domination may include restraining or imprisoning the partner through the use of handcuffs, cages, chains, or ropes. Other acts and fantasies related to sexual sadism include paddling, spanking, whipping, burning, beating, administering electrical shocks, biting, urinating or defecating on the other person, cutting, rape, murder, and mutilation.

[edit] Health Concerns

Sadism can be considered a serious sexual disorder, especially if the individual doesn’t respect the limitations of his partner. In extreme cases, sexual sadism can lead to serious injury or death for the other person.
