Definition
Tickling is the sexual arousal and erotic gratification that comes from tickling or being tickled. Tickling is also known as knismolagnia or titillagnia. Most often tickling involves the restraining of a submissive by a dominant; this can be known as tickle torture. Although this may seem like a form of BDSM it is not fully recognized by the BDSM community. Tickling can play different roles in sexual play, from the extreme form of tying down to a light form of foreplay. This all depends on a person’s comfort level. Acarophilia is a related term used for those who love tickling and being tickled but not in any way sexual. There are many popular tickle spots. The feet are the most popular, closely followed by armpits, navel, breasts, ribs, sides, stomach and genitals.
Safety Concerns
If you are using tickling as form or torture or BDSM play, be sure to have a safe word in place like with all BDSM activities.

Psychological Context
There is no known reason for tickling. Many scientists believe that its main purpose is as a way for parents to bond with their children, while there are some that believe tickling encourages the development of combat skills. However there is no explanation as to why some areas of the bodies are more sensitive than others or why they vary between individuals.
